Just Lather, That’s All

In hopes character description on Captain Torres in the short story “Just Lather, That’s All”, got straight to the point, used examples that went with her descriptions, and knew what the theme was of the story.
Hope got to the point of the story a lot faster than I did in my opinion piece, which made hers a lot more precise then my own. She also wrote a lot of why Captain Torres is a good person underneath and really feels bad for when he has to kill the rebels. Also she gave good examples to why he thinks that killing is harder than it actually looks, when he does his job: which involved him to kill and humiliate the rebel’s bodies.
Secondly she gave good examples to why Captain Torres has the traits that hope mentioned in her opinion piece. For example she said that Captain Torres was a man who could put his trust into anyone and it didn’t madder what the barber supported he just had blind trust in him that he wouldn’t kill him while shaving his beard.
The theme she had decided to write about was “trust” which I though was a good choice also because that was one of my choices for theme too. Hope explained how the captain was known as the military officer that would kill any rebel in his sight, but turned out that he didn’t even like killing them or maybe even hated it but because it was his job he had to do it anyways.
Overall Hope’s description of the captain Torres was very well explained and written. The way she describe how Captain Torres was just another victim to the war that was happening, showed that she took the time to make this opinion piece very well done.

The author is very descriptive in the way he presents stories. One of his stories involves him on a mission to shoot a target from 500 yards away. The Reader feels like they are standing over him as he talks about what is going on around him. Even the way he describes what is happening to the gun in the story is amazing. The author also is great at narrating, he adds in essential details to make all of the stories sound real and if an average reader wouldn’t understand something it is explained short and sweetly. At the end of all of the stories the author makes a point to say that the missions and becoming a Navy Seal is hard and not recommended.…

Richard appears to evolve from his initial condition throughout the story following the constructive reactions from his community, and close to the end, the introduction of Shawna, reaching an ostensible stability. Therefore, the main character is dynamic, he suffers a complete shift in his behavior that is clearly portrayed in the way he narrates his experiences with his friends and Shawna. Richard illustrates himself in different circumstances that give the reader different sides to his current life. He is an addict; however, he does not fulfill all the stereotypes of one, he is also browbeaten, which seems to be normal in his current life because of the way he expresses the event in which he is being robbed. Nevertheless, the reader sees him as a friend and a lover once the melioration begins. Because of this, his development as a character is round, he is battling in some of his sides as narrated during the introduction, though, he starts to find relief in some of his others. The beneficial development on Richard as the story moves forward supports the story’s…

Overall Rifka went through many struggles and problems along the way, but she overcame them. I really enjoyed this book because it showed many shows the struggle people like Rifka have gone through. I also like how determined the main character was and how she believed the intelligence was more important than someone’s looks. I thought that was a very important message and I also liked that no matter how many times Rifka fell she always got back up. Overall I enjoyed this book extremely and would enjoy to read another one like…

In this book, the main character had to go through a lot of internal and external conflicts throughout the book. Some of the internal conflicts the main character, Alex, had to face include keeping his mental strength that allowed him and his two sisters to stay alive. Some external conflicts include how Alex had to deal with his two sisters and make them do what he says since he was the next in charge of the family after their parents are gone and his older brother, Carlos, in the marines. I personally dont like the ending of the book. Why does Alex sister, Brianna, have to die? My favorite character in this book is Kevin. Even though Kevin died at a part in this book, he was a thoughtful person for Alex. Kevin always gave Alex food that he didnt need and helped him get one more bag of food at the food line every morning. After reading this book, I learned that making more friends will make a lot of difference once you are stuck in a difficult situation. I will recommend this book to any people that are interested in catastrophic situation.…

This novel really stirred my emotions, especially in the beginning. For example, Candelario works at a restaurant owned by a man named Don Gustavo. Candelario is the salad maker and what taught, by Don Gustavo himself, how to make a perfect Caesar salad for his customers. The doctor and his wife came in and both ordered salads and Candelario made the salads exactly to Don’s instructions, but the customers were not pleased. Since they were not pleased Don fired Gustavo on the spot that night. This made me very angered with Don and people like Don. It sucks when you do something right but then someone is displeased so all of a sudden it was the wrong thing to do. In this situation, Don was definitely the bad man and people should…

A theme is a unifying or dominant idea and clearly portrayed in this novella a few obvious themes may include defiance, rebellion, fear of the unknown and fear of death. This passage more so focuses on the theme of defiance; as they claimed "We light cigarettes against orders..". There is a higher authority that has set rules for the soldiers. This idea of the 2 soldiers disobeying the rules is a very easily targeted example of rebellion or a rebellious act. As well as the soldier spoke of not falling asleep on sentry duty and when he noticed the second soldier Fry falling…
