In a newspaper article that’s titled “Budget Cuts to New York City schools hurting student, teachers Union says” by Ben Chapmen. High school extracurricular activities funding has been taken a turn in our economy today. Activities such as sports, band, clubs, and other activities in school that are non-education wise are been cut out. The main activities that many students enjoy are sports as in basketball, football, baseball, and etc. In this newspaper article Ben Chapmen analysis this article about extracurricular activities that it is mostly saying that if you keep these programs they can help motivate students, Help them focus on academics more to be eligible to participate in those activities, and to also help student’s stay out of trouble.
New waves of budget cutting are more likely to hit different parts of the nonprofit sector for the future. Since most companies have only a little way of spending to eliminate, there are a few easy targets. Mangers or in this case you the board of education most approach budget cutting with care. So that they will not harm the school or their company they must handle their organization’s capacity to achieve its purpose. But the hardest thing for you as the school board is to figure out how to reduce the budget without compromising the school’s mission (Maddox). Taking away extracurricular activities from the students will bring their motivation down. Only one activity comes to mind when students get pumped. It’s no other than sports. Sports like football, and basketball gives something students can do and look forward to interacting with other fellow students.
