Karson Farrell: A Short Story
So I, Karson Farrell, am a 26 year old woman who has been through many different relationships. Let me just make a list of past to present for you. First Grade. Jimmy Peters. He was the sweetest kid in my class. Jimmy wrote me little cute notes that would say have a great bay; he always wrote his d’s backwards. He would bring me a gift, like shiny rocks, brushes, and stuffed animals, every day for a month. My mom later made me give back all the gifts because Jimmy’s mom caught him stealing the gifts from his sister’s room. Jimmy’s mom told my mom what Jimmy was doing, so I was unwillingly forced to give back all my cherished gifts. Third Grade. Daniel Tyler. He cheated on me with some nasty frizzy haired girl when I went to Florida for …show more content…
Connor Swiner. He only wanted to date me so he could cheat off my test and my homework. He would always give me the biggest hug and then say, “Hey, if you like me a lot, you should give me the homework from last night.” And of course I wanted my boyfriend to know that I liked him a lot so I always gave him the homework. He broke up with me after we didn’t have anymore classes together. Sophomore year. Dakota Johnson. We never officially dated, but he quit talking to me for a girl who had a dirt track so he could go ride his dirt bike whenever he wanted. I wasn’t too upset about this because I knew it was coming since he had quit texting me. 19 years old. Doug Stevens. My best friend set us up on a blind date and after there was nothing to talk about, Doug asked to talk about our wedding. After I said how I wanted my wedding to go, he then started to say things like “Well instead of the barn wedding, can we have it at my grandparents’ lake house?” I was definitely weirded out. 23 years old. Ashton Pettigrew. We dated for 6 months, and he found out that I wanted children later in life, so he left. He didn't even want to talk about it or anything; he just said that since I wanted kids that he couldn't be with

We've been inseparable ever since kindergarten and now I have to live without him. We were all each other ever needed. We told each other everything, went everywhere together, and I'm the only one he allowed to call him "Sammy". Wherever I was, you can bet that Sam wasn't too far behind and vise versa. We were so much alike, our moms used to joke about us being the same person.…

Ben, who was my cousin, was one of my closest friends. In July, he had just turned 18 and would soon be heading off for college. I would be in 6th grade that same year. Ben was ecstatic for me and he always called me a Temple Tot. Everyone surrounding him would be hysterical because of all of the ridiculous jokes he spoke of. Ben used to tell me all of funny stories from when I was little, especially the story of when I would stop at nothing to pet the kittens in the tree. Ben had touched everyone's lives in some shape or another.…

Once we arrived in Kelowna, we were able to stay with Lyndees girlfriend. Since it was a Monday, not much was open, so we ended up walking over to a place just down the street from where we were staying. I remember feeling guilty for missing work, but I told myself to make the most of it, and just have fun. As i was getting a drink - a guy accidently bumped into me, and spilled his drink. He apologized a few times, and said that his friends and him would like to buy us a drink as an apology. I told him that it wasn't necessary and that his apology was more than enough. As I was about to walk away - a tall, blond hair, blue eyed guy walked up, and introduced himself as Brad. He was wearing a bright blue shirt, dark jeans and white shoes. I will never forget the feeling I got, when I seen him for the first time. I tried not to make it obvious, and I've never admitted this before, but I was mesmerized.…

When I was 17 it was 1995, I went on my first real date. We were going to see First Knight. The boy in question was the friend of a friend and I had only ever talked to him on the phone. He said he would pick me up at 7 and we would catch a movie. So far so good. 7 rolls around and he isn't there, he calls and says his Dad is running late so they won't be there till 8. I didn't realize his Dad was driving but whatever, I am withholding judgment. 8:30 they show up and he knocks on my door and I go out to join him. He leans in for a kiss and I lean very far back and awkwardly stick out my hand to shake his hand. He doesn't act like he knows what to do next and he is just staring at his feet and his Dad is staring at us and time just crawls. We finally just painfully walk to the car. It is not immediately apparent where we are going to be sitting. Now, this dude's Dad was HUGE. Not just his weight, but his entire freaking frame. He barely fits in his car. He has the driver's seat all the way back and in the front seat next to him is a cage of living breathing birds. The back seat is really only half a back seat because his Dad is filling so much of the car. I look at my date and look at the car. My date seems to have come to the same realization that there is really only one seat. I squeeze into the backseat while my date squeezes into the front seat with a bird…

That year, during the "free" period during the start of each day we were assigned to the same classes. We'd sit in our science teacher's room and learn about upcycling, or the gym and opt out of dodge ball to talk about bands or how I thought you looked like Leonard Nimoy for some reason. We'd even speculated that Spock was your dad. You got me into new music, tv shows, books, movies. You encouraged my writing, even though it was bad, you'd even done the whole banana bat thing. The last day of school we'd even had a fake sword fight with our yearbooks out of sight from everyone else.…

Spenser and I were always active and out doing anything and everything we could think of. Everything from sports to catching cray-fish in the little creek in his back yard. We went together like chips and dip. Our best memories would have to be fishing. We would fish all the time. While we were fishing we could share anything. We could talk all day and fish and no matter how many times we did, it never got old. In high school we added a new friend to the circle; Stephen. Stephen was just like us in every way. He fit in perfectly.…

In first grade, it was my first year in public school so I didn’t have as much friends as the the people that were in kindergarten last year. When I walked into the room, both of my parents on each of my side they introduced to my teacher then I sat in the empty seat. The person assigned to sit next was a girl named Chloe. At first sight, I mesmerized by the amount of silly bands she had. At that moment I knew I had to be her friend.…
