Another time was when she was contemplating her decision to murder her mother’s murderer. During the time where Katara and Zuko were allies Zuko informs Katara that he knows the whereabouts of her mother’s murderer. Katara immediately sets out to find the murderer under the guise of “emotional resolution”. Katara arrives at the murderer’s whereabouts and uses bloodbending to incapacitate the murderer. Unfortunately, it turns out that the apparent murderer was not actually a murderer but a person named Yon Rha. The apparent murderer informs Katara of his whereabouts and she meets Yon Rha. Katara harms Yon Rha and is about to kill Yon Rha, however, Yon Rha offers his mother’s life in exchange for his own. Katara feels disgusted with this offer and realizes that Yon Rha also has a family. Katara ultimately decides to not kill Yon Rha because it will continue the cycle of hatred. Katara notes that she “does not forgive” Yon Rha, however, she does not have any bitterness toward him
