Katniss Everdeen In Catching Fire

Amy Poehler once said; "Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you; spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life". Being friends with people who are challenging and inspiring can inevitably affect a person’s life. In Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games and Catching Fire, the main character Katniss Everdeen enlisted to fight in the Hunger Games, where children from twelve to eighteen have to survive and battle each other to death. The beginning of the dystopian novels is set in District 12, a city in the country Panem. Katniss Everdeen, a sixteen-year-old girl living in District 12, would be a good friend because she is powerful, loyal, and she stays true to herself.
Katniss Everdeen inspires many with her powerful and strong feminine figure in the Hunger Games series. After Katniss volunteers for tribute, Prim, Katniss’ sister who was originally picked to be a tribute, starts screaming and crying. Katniss starts to become emotionally affected by Prim’s cries. Before she could shed a tear, Katniss realizes that “... everyone will make note of my tears, and I’ll be marked as a easy target. A weakling. I will give no one that satisfaction” (Collins 23). Katniss’ consistent strength and determination throughout the novels is empowering to many of the citizens of Panem, the country that contains all of the districts.
