A great example of this is expressed in The Hunger Games through the character of Katniss Everdeen. The central idea of this movie is Katniss’s journey of discovering herself, while becoming a hero to a damsel in distress, Peeta. Katniss is forced to fight to keep her district alive, and in doing that portrays many characteristics a woman has never possessed in another movie. She is strong, intelligent, independent, defiant, and most importantly she is a hunter. This movie is amazing because it generates all the traits and emotions of a man, but expressed through a woman which just goes to show that women are capable of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING a man can do, and can even do it better in some …show more content…
Effie Trinket lets out a squeal, and everybody is slapping me on the back and cheering and congratulating me. But it doesn't seem real. ‘There must be a mistake. How…how could that happen?’ I ask Haymitch. ‘Guess they liked your temper,’ he says. ‘They've got a show to put on. They need some players with some heat.’ ‘Katniss, the girl who was on fire,’ says Cinna and gives me a hug” (Collins). In this moment, all of strength and skill that Katniss possessed was exploited, rating her as the tribute with the most potential coming from the poorest district. Throughout the movie she expresses many heroic and noble actions which is why this movie is a huge player in the game of closing the gender gap. And now today more than ever, the success and representation of women is at an all time high in the movie
