Katniss Everdeen is the main character of The Hunger Games. She seems like the one who will be dead during The Hunger Games, but she is miraculous becoming the winner of The Hunger Games. Katniss presents herself as a practical person of action who just wants to survive The Hunger Games. She always reflects on the good nature of other people while she is very critical of herself. But in fact, she makes the most ethical decision every time. She uses her moral compass to guide her life value, love value and loyalty value are morality. Her actions show that Katniss has highly developed sense of morality.
First of all, one of the moral compass of Katniss shows from her life value . Katniss kills Cato with her arrow. Almost end of the story, there are three people left in The Hunger Games. Those are include Cato, Peeta and Katniss. They fight on the cornucopia, then Cato falls down cornucopia. After muttations has been biting him for a long time, Katniss shoots his head. It seems like Katniss really killed a person, but in fact Katniss just trying to help Cato. Try to think about the situation, Cato must be painful after muttations bite off his body armor. He asks for help from Katniss, because he can not bear the pain. The best way to help him is to kill him, just lets him euthanasia. She does this not just helps Cato, it also helps herself. Thus she also can have less one enemy. In conclusion, Katniss shows her moral compass from her life value.
Secondly, one of the moral compass of Katniss shows from her love value. Katniss does not kill Peeta after the game maker changes the game rule again, and she even decides eat the dark berries with Peeta.“I spread out my fingers, and the dark berries as a signal, as a good-bye, and we begin counting...begin to blare.” (page.345) They think they both can be winners, but then the game maker only allows one winner from The Hunger Games. As a person who wants to survive The
