The current public education system was designed for the enlightenment and industrial revolution. We now recognize that we have to change this system so most arguments are for raising the education standards. This may seem like the right answer as we have no reason to lower it, but what about the artists and dancers? There are some schools for arts, but not many. Millions of kids are alienated by our public education system because they do not see the point of going to school. There are only two types of people in the public education which are academic and non-academic, which makes many brilliant people think they are not. I know a person who seems like a genius to me, he had photographic memory and went to a special school, but once he got there, he felt as if he were dumb, since all the other kids were smarter.
