When it comes to preaching about money, we may remark the recurrence of many patterns of speech. Indeed, the videos under our analysis show some similarities in their constructions, and in this section we intend to reveal how preachers convince their audiences to donate money to the church. We decided to focus this analysis on two money-related videos:

Before going into the depths of the techniques used by the preachers, we should make a point about the context and the situations set in these videos. The video of Dr. Leroy Thompson is recorded few years after the publication of his book Money Cometh to the Body of Christ in the mid 1990’s. Kenneth Copeland’s video is from April 14th 2013. The context of each speech is understandable by the content; they speak about “money” “debt” “prosperity” “abundance”.
