In essence, social work empowerment helps those in need to help themselves by employing coping skills and problem solving methods to challenge and overcome issues of abuse, poverty, oppression and mental illness. Direct service social work practice facilitates necessary communications with institutions to secure financial assistance for basic human needs and encourages individuals to become self-sustained in society by becoming educated and employed. Clinical social work empowerment concentrates on individuals who seek emotional and behavioral diagnoses in which proper treatment plans can be implemented for better mental health and functionality in society.
