I have never done any research on any candidates or any bills until this course educated me how important it is to know who or what you are casting a vote for. Many voters do not do research when it comes to voting for an election but would rather vote for their party without doing any research about the candidates. Voting in a local election, your vote has a bigger outcome, but it is still important to vote at the federal level election. When it comes to voting, it is not always about the candidates but also about who is participating to vote. Wealthier people tend to vote more over less well-off and someone who is more educated will most likely vote over someone who is not educated. Older citizens are most likely to vote, and women have a higher rate of voting over men. Reapportionment, redistricting, and gerrymandering all play a role in the election outcome. Reapportionment helps determine how many congressional districts a state can have based on their population, redistricting make sure each district has the same number of people, and gerrymandering is redrawing districts to benefit one political party over the
