Key Values Of A Prayer Experience

The chosen quote for my prayer experience is “Prayer is a plant the seed of which is sown in the heart of every Christian, but its growth entirely depends on the care we take to nourish it.” addressed by Catherine McCauley. Some key values that are given from this quote include: reflection, challenge, care, competence and compassion. These key values represent McCauley’s quote because she believes that our connection with God will only develop if we challenge ourselves to show care and compassion to others as we are competent to do so. Reflecting on our actions will ensure us to follow this.
The aim of my liturgy is to develop the viewer’s spirituality and build their connection with God. This is achieved through using sacred texts, multimedia applications and the elements of a prayer experience that will engage the viewer to participate.
The utilization of a scripture is effective to open the mind of spirituality because it gives a reason and teaching on why we should do something. This is demonstrated in the prayer experience by using James 3:16-18. This scripture explains to the viewer why we should attain the key values from Catherine McCauley’s quote. In addition, scriptures can be further explored by including a story. This is also an efficient way as the viewer can be inspired to have a sense of connectedness with God. Catherine McCauley’s life story represents this as she chose to devote her life to God. In response, a practical way to open the viewer to the sense of spirituality is praying. This is shown through reading a prayer about showing our gratitude in spiritual practice. This improves the viewer’s relationship with God. Therefore, spirituality is shown in the prayer experience through
