According to the Tar Sand Blockade, NASA’s leading climate scientist, Dr. James Hansen has called the Keystone XL pipelines “a fuse to the largest carbon bomb on the planet.” Hansen has said that if all the carbon stored in the Canadian tar sands is released into the earth’s atmosphere it would mean “game over” for the planet. Global warming is caused by the amount of carbon and greenhouse gas emissions right to the atmosphere, raising the level of the sea, weather will be wild depending on where you live; hurricanes, floods, heat waves, forest fires and there will be extinction of cretin species. The dependence on fossil fuels and oil will grow, making many problems and along with animal agriculture for livestock profits there will be destruction on this planet. There are dead zones in the sea, way less trees in forests and now sanctuaries of green lands can and will be ruined. TransCanada seems to be hesitant towards what exact chemicals are going through these pipes within the oil. Not much good can come from …show more content…
If I were president of course I would deny this notion. Although trains run on oil they can also transport oil, they can always stop transportation for any reason necessary, and it can be permanent but at least it wont corrupt the ground below us. The pollution is a problem already so I don’t see why there needs to be an, add on to it from the carbon emissions. In order to help this planet there has to be different ways for these gases that sound be natural to go up in our atmosphere. Now with all the analysis research TransCanada had done they basically state that this wouldn’t have a significant effect on climate change, and I think that’s not true so a train would be more sufficient. See, you’d be surprised to find out that livestock, water usage, deforestation, waste, extinction of species and land use all causes an effect on climate change. No one thinks that if you stop eating meat you’re helping this planet but it’s the sweetest truth there is. 1 hamburger is the equivalent to 660 gallons of water, which is the same amount as one individual showering for 2 months. No body really understands that although 13% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from transportation like roads, rails, air, marine, 51% is due to livestock and their byproducts. There are
