Djibouti, Eritrea and the Arabian Peninsula. It is also grown in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, the Congo, Malawi, Zimbabwe,

1.b) Khat is Financial burden-time and Money spent on chewing Khat?
Khat is a financial burden to the economic growth because, as a Puntland we import thousands of kilos of Khat (Leaves) and pay out $.100,000 dollar (roughly) , per day. For that reason, it effects the Socio-economic states of Puntland, particulary the khat chewers.
2. What are the main social effects of Khat use in Puntland?
THE MAIN SOCIAL EFFECTS OF THAT USE IN PUNTLAND: Poverty
Family and Community breakdowns (e.g divorce, domestic violence, etc.)
Illiteracy (e.g lack of education, drop out of education, etc.)
Crime (e.g killing, theft, Cheating, etc.)
Irresponsibility (e.g, unemployment )

3.Should Khat be prohibited in Puntland? If yes how? If no how to minimize its social effects ?
Khat could not be prohibeted once in Puntland.But, it could be minimized through, a long-term awareness, and social Mobilization towards the effects of Khat chewing.
