Kids Having Kids
Why are young people having kids at very young age, when they have nothing to provide? The other day I was in class and we were all presenting ourselves, what I realized once again, was very strange and I have to say that I have mix feelings about it.
I love kids, and I truly believe that there is nothing wrong with having kids, but I just keep asking myself the same question over and over again, why can’t they use protection? When we were presenting ourselves in class, one of the things that shocked me the most is when people that seemed to be around my age were saying that they have one, two or even three kids. It is not my purpose to question anyone’s life, I just think that being young and immature, because that is what most people with twenty years old are, very immature, at least most of them, and also not having a stable financial situation, why are they so selfish that they can not realized the consequences of bringing a kid in this world at such a young age, and I really have to come to the conclusion that there is no excuse for it. Is it fair to cause more expenses to someone who probably does not have a good financial situation? I think not. What bothers me the most is what are people really thinking when they are being intimate with their boyfriend or girlfriend, do they actually stop to think that if they do not use protection there will be consequences, an STD or maybe if you are lucky enough a little girl or boy, but what will be the price of that little girl or boy? Probably not enough time to enjoy life, to party, to travel or to prepare yourself academically, which is suppose to be our main priority at this age. Who do we blame for this, our parents or maybe the government for not having sex education during the high school

    One of the reasons for changes in childbearing is higher ages of mothers. In today’s society many women are having children at later age then earlier. In the 1940’s, it was norms and values for women to stay at home and look after their children. Women were expected to be married and have children at early ages. This was because they were made to stay at home and be housewife’s and were not expected to work but to look after the children. However, in today’s society, the roles of women have changed dramatically. More women are going into further education and achieving qualifications to work and stabilise themselves economically. Due to this, more women tend to focus on their job careers then on having children this also mean’s the average age of marriage is increasing. The most recent figures from the ‘Office for National Statistics’ show the average age at which men get married is 30.8 years, while women are typically aged 28.9 years. Although many have children outside wedlock, many have children once married possibly because of secularisation. Women because of their careers are having children later then soon. The latest figures show that almost 350,000 children are born every year to women above the age of 30 in the UK. Of these, almost 28,000 mothers are above the age of 40. In 2010, some 141 babies were born to women above the age of 50. This illustrates that women are having children later as they want to focus on their careers and opportunity’s they wouldn’t of had 100 years ago.     Teens should be allowed to have babies because it makes them mature faster. Sometimes teen mothers do not get support from the baby father. They often have to drop out of school pick up and work to be able to support them and the child. In an article in People magazine a teenage girl name Ambria Branch gave birth to her first child in the eighth grade. A few years later she goes on to take college courses and a night job at Amber`s childcare center. Ambria made a statement about how much “She can't imagine life without Amber: "I love everything about her” even though she had given up a lot of her own childhood herself she still loves her daughter with everything in her. Sixteen year-old Katy Macdonald got pregnant in the 11th grad she was a straight A- students took AP class and wanted to be a doctor. After finding out about the baby she dropped out of AP and started attending school half- time so that she can work. She saved all of her paycheck and put them in a bank account for the baby. “I’ve had to grow up almost overnight," Katy says because although she is not an adult she has to make adult choses for her and her child.     My life as a teenager would soon be coming to an end and my life as mommy would be coming up faster then expected. It all started June 10th 2012, my family and I had just finished eating our dinner celebrating my achievement of getting my GED. I had received cards, gifts, and even some money from my family members for finally receiving this GED after being out of school for my senior year.
