Part 1: Plot Summary “The Way It Felt to Be Falling” by Kim Edwards is a story set in the summer that Kate, the narrator, turns 19. She recalls the story of one of her most memorable moments where she learns to let go of her fear. Kate begins the story by telling of her father’s depression. He begins to stop speaking at times and ultimately, stops speaking entirely. Kate begins to fear that she is going to be just like her dad.
