1. INTRODUCTION TO THE CASE
Shree Ramjibhai Vasava is innovative and literate farmer of Kavachia in the valia Taluka of Baruch District. He has 8 acres of land divided into 4 plots. Although he has 7 persons family, not much family labour are available to his as parents are old and children go to school. On the other he himself has a job.
Among all of his 4 plots, 3 plots are adjacent occupying 5 acres of land and having irrigation facility. The fourth one occupying 3 acres is 1 km away from the other plots and not having any irrigation facility.
Shree Vasava combines farm forestry, regular farming, fruit plantation and dairying in his operations. The farmer planted mango fruits in that separate farm plot i.e. farm 1. On farm no. 2 he does regular farming. He intercrops Tuvar and Jowar in Kharif and produces variety of crops ranging from vegetables, condiments and oil seeds. And on plot no. 3 he had planted the eucalyptus.
2. OBJECTIVES
The major objectives of RamjiBhai are divided into short term and long term objectives.
2.1 Short term objectives
To select best suitable crop for farm no.3 which is recently vacant.
2.2 Long term objective
To utilize the land in optimum way to maximize the returns.
3. PROBLEMS
Field crops require more time for supervision but farmer has less time.
Finding labour is difficult.
Not having proper irrigation facilities in some plots.
4. CONSTRAINTS: Workin hours of farmer.
No availability of family labour.
5. CRITERIA
More earning from the farming activities.
Minimum use of labor and water.
Requires Less Attention.
Produce enough fodder
