DREAMS
The real meaning of a dream is hope, an inspiration; a purpose. Every human being has a dream or goal; the dreams change greatly from person to person, some being minor while others are enormous. There is no human being alive doesn’t have a dream, or goal in his life. These ideas what makes you today and part of why you are living. We all have the need to live a successful life. Dreams are lively to the life of every person. Without these dreams or goals, there is nothing to plan or look forward to or no reason to live.
In A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry takes place in Chicago around the 1950s.
This story revealed many values and purposes such as Beneatha and Ruth. Both characters in in the play had a dream which involved an insurance check they received after the death of Lena’s husband. Beneatha dreamed to become a doctor and to find the correct way to “express” herself. Ruth a hardworking housewife dreamed to be wealthy and have a happy family for her son Travis and husband Walter. But Beneatha thought that being a house wife wasn’t her she didn’t want to be like others who depended on the man so she decided to become a doctor and be successful and a self-dependent woman.
Beneatha’s “vision” to turn into a doctor was linked for her desire to find her true identity, which was an independent woman which was free from house-working by becoming successful without relying on a man, she believed that education was a device mainly for a rise in understanding rather than money and her dream was to attend college, and become a doctor. In the end, this dream became a failure when Walter spent her share of the money from the
