In this chapter, students will get to learn about the concepts of involving work and energy including the work of a force that acts on particles. Therefore, students can develop the principle of work and energy and the concepts of a conservative force as this equation can be useful for solving problems involving force, velocity and displacement and also can solve the kinetic problems. So in general, this chapter will enable students to analyse and understand more about the motion of a particle by using the concepts of work and energy.
Chapter 18 – Planar Kinetics of a Rigid Body : Work and Energy
In this chapter, students can learn about the concept of work and energy that acts on rigid body. It is differ from chapter 14 as on this chapter, the involving forces acts on rigid body rather than particles. So, students must know about the formation for the kinetic energy of a body and apply the principle work of energy. Therefore, students will be enable to solve rigid-body planar motions problems involving force, velocity, and displacement by using work and energy methods. …show more content…
The similarities are:- Both of this chapter show the solving of the problems which involving force, velocity, and displacement by applying the principle of work and energy, ( T_1+ ΣU_(1-2) =T_2 ). The energy that involves in these chapters are in scalar quantity. All the forces involves whether on particles or rigid body does work if only if it moves through a displacement in the direction of force. All formed work is positive when the sense of direction of the force that acting on particle and rigid body is same as its
