Book Report As a Chaminade Gentlemen, I hereby declare I have read 407 pages of my 407 page novel. To Begin, The Book King Con is about card-hustlers, or you could say con men. The novel King Con introduces the readers to the main character Beano X. Bates. Beano X. Bates could be called the master of con men. The story sets place when Beano X. Bates is in a poker game. The poker game is like any other poker game for Beano X. Bates, but Joe Rina was at the poker table. In this novel Joe Rina is not someone you want to hustle. Joe Rina was the like a mob boss and he had power. While Beano X. Bates is making his move to cheat, Joe Rina caught him. Beano X. Bates knew he'd been caught and …show more content…
One quality is that is it very rich in detail. Stephen J. Cannell does a well job on making sure that the rich details don't confuse the readers. Another quality is that King Con is interesting. Many readers pick up this book and wonder what its about. When they start reading the book it talks about con artists and con artists are very interesting. An example is, “Beano parked the Escort and claimed over the gate. He walked all around the empty building”. Considering that this quotation is about Beano X. Bates getting out of his car and parking, Stephen J. Cannell does a great job at keeping it interesting and rich in detail. This is why King Con qualities make it a great novel. In conclusion, King Con is a overall a great book. The reasoning over King Con being a great book is because Stephen J. Cannell wrote well. He wrote King Con as if he himself was talking place in the book. The way he would explain certain scenes is unbelievable. Stephen J. Cannell wrote very clear and interesting. An interesting and clear part of the book was when Beano X. Bates was beat up with a golf club and almost died. It was interesting because usually in novels similar to King Con, people are beat up going fist to fist. This is the reason why King Con is overall a great
