King Narmer

Wouldn’t you like to rule over an entire country while living in luxury? Well here is a biography on one who did this. His name was King Narmer. This biography will also tell you about his life accomplishments, death, and what happened after his death. There are only a few things he did. One was that he had established the old kingdom in 3100 B.C. Another was that he was the first pharaoh of Egypt. He also created the firs dynasty. The biggest of his accomplishments was conquering Lower Egypt, and uniting Upper and Lower Egypt in 3000 B.C. The way he died had surprised me. I learned that a hippopotamus in 3120 B.C. killed him. Historians say that he ruled for about 62 years. Then in 1897 we found his tomb. I do not know who found his tomb. The Narmer palette shows king Narmer wearing the white crown of Upper Egypt and the red crown of Lower Egypt. The Narmer palette is dated 3150 to 3125 B.C. Do to the information in this palette 3157 B.C. has been chosen as the beginning of a predynastic period. This period is known as the Nile River Civilization. This historical data indicates King Narmer’s importance. From the information that I read about King Narmer, I feel that he was very important to Egyptian history. King Narmer succeeded in uniting Egypt. His 62-year reign created unity within the country. I found researching King Narmer to be very interesting. My conclusion is that King Narmer did a lot for the country and people within

The Palette of Namer is an Ancient Egyptian artefact, pre-dating the Early Dynastic period. This clay tablet depicts the legacy of King Namer, but due to its mysterious nature, it is still unknown if these depictions are a historical record or a tool of political propaganda. Based on its size, shape and detailed images it is apparent that this palette was not used for daily purposes or historical archives. With further inspection of the images on the palette, it is clear that the chief purpose of the piece was not to record the historical ventures of King Narmer but to assert his kingship and dominance over Ancient Egypt.…

“The Narmer Palette is a double-sided carving made of green siltstone,” and often referred to as a cosmetic palette. A cosmetic palette that Egyptians used as make-up, ranging in different colors. It was created most likely around c. 3100, during the Archaic Period (Early Dynastic Period) and while the palette was discovered in the year 1897 by archaeologists in the temple of god Horus at Nekhen, the capital of Upper Egypt it is unknown of who the actual author is. Even though, the creator is unknown to us, we can likely say that the person was likely from Egypt, either the Upper or Lower. Could have served under King Narmer, recording his triumphs or his princess Neithheotep of Lower Egypt. With that, he or she political, economic, social, and religious status remains unknown as well. Though, one can concur that it is similar to other Egyptians unless they were a part of a hierarchy. The intended audience of the Narmer Palette was most likely his followers, those to come after him, for others to know of him, and/or for the afterlife. The purpose of…

Pharaohs played a powerful role in the Egyptian society, more so than the kings did in the Mesopotamian civilization. Although both rulers had great responsibilities such as leading their armies, managing their civilizations, and ruling over the people in their jurisdiction, the Egyptian pharaohs ruled over much more land and people than the Mesopotamian kings did. This is because Mesopotamia was divided into small city-states in which one king was assigned to, but in Egypt the pharaoh ruled over the entire civilization and was expected to bring them wealth and prosperity. The pharaohs were even thought to have godly powers and used them to communicate with other gods to protect the Egyptians from the flooding of the Nile and other disasters.…

Discoveries at Hierakonpolis provided further evidence that the unification took place before Narmer, who the Narmer palette would have you believe unified Egypt by defeating his enemies, was pharaoh. Food production is found to have occurred, as pits at Hierakonpolis contained tens of thousands of domestic livestock bones, as well an array of wild animal bones. If this were to be a food production centre, then it would explain the power that Narmer (and many others after him), inherited. Due to the ability to control a population by controlling food production in an area, Narmer would have been able to control food in both the upper and Lower Egypt. This would mean that food would be centralized, giving the pharaoh control even before the unification. The pharaoh would have been able to view food production…
