Ancient Egyptian Weapons: Sling Sickle Sword (Khopesh) Bow and Arrow (Principal Weapon)
-The best archers were Nubian Mercenaries. -Hyksos introduced composite bow made out of wood and horn from animals. (New Kingdom) -Leather armour was introduced. -Thutmosis III was the first to utilize the sickle sword because he brought to Egypt from Syria. -The sickle sword was represented as being given to the Pharaoh by the Gods and called the “Weapon of Victory” -Maces, swords, battle axes, clubs, spears, and daggers were all used by the Ancient Egyptian infantry. -Charioteers had bows and arrows as well as spears so they weren 't left unarmed after
using all their arrows. -Reliefs show Ancient Egyptians usually using no armour protection other than a shield. -Bronze was available in the Middle Kingdom and iron in the New Kingdom both of which allowed Ancient Egyptians to upgrade their arsenal for more powerful weaponry. -“Wake your arms, draw your weapons in order to destroy the rebelling lands who do not know Egypt, the strength of Amen my father.” (By Ramses III) - S. -Ancient Egypt did not have many wars until after the Hyksos invasion of Lower Egypt. Most battles were between noblemen and were fought by militia and peasants. -The fastest mode of transportation for deploying troops was by boat on the Nile River. -
