On November 26, 1922, Howard Carter poked a hole in a sealed door and became the first person to enter the tomb of King Tut in 3,000 years. Tut’s tomb was special because it was the most complete tomb ever found. Grave robbers had disturbed other tombs scientists had discovered, but King Tut’s looked the way it did thousands of years ago, when it was sealed.…
Dr. King’s remarkable speech uses logos appeal to have evidence that there isn’t freedom in the U.S. In paragraph 8 of his speech, Dr. King says, “…robbed of their dignity by signs stating ‘For Whites only’. We cannot be satisfied as long as an N-word in Mississippi cannot vote…” This is using logical appeal because it gives evidence on how blacks are not free. It talks about the “For Whites Only” sign and how that makes the blacks lose their dignity. King adds that example to show how freedom is not established in the U.S. Dr. King also says, “A N-word in Mississippi cannot vote.” This shows logical appeal because if someone can’t vote in their country, then they are not really free. By saying that a black in Mississippi can’t vote, Dr. King…
The immigrant groups that have come to the United States of America have suffered from several stereotypes that White Anglo-Saxon Protestant (WASP) had created. Some of the immigrant groups that had the same stereotypes are the Irish, Chinese, and the Mexicans. WASPs used specific Political Cartoons to stereotype the Irish, Chinese, and Mexican as inferior races because of how they looked and as violent because of their past. To WASPs, they believed that not only God made the hierarchy, but that they could prove it.…

He believed in Canada and only because of that he was a successful man and was able to make Canada a great…
Thomas King uses Satire in his short story,“A Short History Of Indians In Canada ” to convey the theme of dehumanization of Aboriginal people in Canada, by depicting them as animals that are reliant on white people, while it may be a creative for king to express his arguments through, it’s an inappropriate to use humor, and parody depicting aboriginal people while knowing the treatment they have endured by European settlers, King ideas would have been presented more powerful than satire, because there would not be a need to depict the Aboriginal people as birds by their culture and identity, convey the voices of Aboriginal people rather than White people, and explain discrimination against Aboriginal rather than describing them as animals that need to be helped…
Back in the 1950’s - 1970’s, there were a lot more stereotypes in the world. In the article by Jessica McBirney, Emmett Till decided to visit his uncle in Chicago. He was dared to flirt with a white woman named Carolyn Bryant, and then she harassed him and threatened to kill him. Then, her husband had abducted him, and abused him and pushed him into the water where he laid there dead. In the novel That was Then, This is Now by S.E. Hinton, a black girl walked in a drugstore, and the white kids were being rude to her.…
The aboriginal population are one of the most violently oppressed groups in Canada’s History. Some say to advance as a society and reach an equal ground we have to move on looking to a bright future, but some would say to move on we need to address the issues caused by the past that still shadow aboriginal communities today. I firmly believe that to solve the problem, we must fully realise it. I am inclined to believe that this is the land God gave to Cain. “ - Jacques Cartier. This quote from famed Canadian explorer Jacques Cartier explains his thoughts on the land found by him and his crew. It started in 1534, Jacques Cartier a french explorer took one small step for man and pushed the Canadian indigenous 50 steps back. Exploring the St. Lawrence river, Cartier set base. One year later he would find what is now Montreal, welcomed with open arms by the Iroquois people who were already settled there. Cartier and his men would soon continue to search north America for gold and diamonds. Cartier set a standard for Canadian exploration and would be followed by many others. History paints Cartier as a hero, despite the accounts of murder, rape and other crimes committed by him and his crew members. Looking back to the quote, an underlying entitlement based on faith and status must be acknowledged in able to see why the problems are still…

He continues to say that after countless attempts of trying to get the superior whites to acknowledge their problems and opinions, they were told to "wait". Like the Native Americans, as a whole, society has ignored these cultures. King's letter was written at a time where segregation existed and blacks were excluded from certain places, where they were unable to voice their thoughts without being punished or penalized for doing so, and where looked down upon by many others. The superior white people at the time were judging these African Americans by the color of their skin rather than by the people and humans that they actually are. This poses the concept of dehumanization- making people seem less than human. In "Team Names and Mascots," the very opening line quoted by an eighth grade student in 1997 states, "We simply chose an Indian as the emblem. We could have just as easily chosen any uncivilized animal." Here, a young boy who has yet to really experience the world and the people around him, is recognizing this culture as being uncivilized animals. Like the African Americans, Native Americans were being dehumanized by superior cultures. By associating Mascots with Native Americans, one is dehumanizing the culture and race. As a society we’ve forgotten about these people and their…

So here you are watching what you think is an innocent Disney movie, free of harm, but yet if you watch closely you can see that they are anything but innocent. Two major Disney produced movies, The Lion King and Aladdin were both major hits despite that fact that they both have unrealized racial subliminal messages. Despite this, Disney is still known as one of the major and most successful movie companies. Now who wants their young kids watching movies filled with racial innuendos? The problem is that no one is realizing them.…
Many people would say that the ABC series Once Upon a Time is a lousy show, is unrealistic, and does not make sense or follow a good storyline; but over its first six seasons, Once Upon A Time has stolen my heart time and time again for many reasons. These writers and the creators of this show Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have re-created many people's favorite scenes from their favorite movies like Prince Charming finding snow white and Waking her up with true love's kiss, or beauty and the beast dancing together, and they brought so many favorite and new characters to the show unlike anything before. The writers changed classical fairy tale stereotypes, they give the villains a chance at happy endings, and a deeper backstory than usual,…
