Eyewitness testimony is the account a bystander gives in the courtroom, describing what they perceived happened during the specific incident under investigation. Ideally this recollection of events is detailed; however this is not always the case. This recollection is used as evidence to show what happened from a witness ' point of view. Memory recall has been considered a credible source in the past, but has recently come under attack as forensics can now support psychologists in their claim that memories and individual perceptions are unreliable; being easily manipulated, altered, and biased.…

I have decided to carry through my mathematical exploration on the topic of sports specifically tennis. When I first heard of mathematical explorations, I thought that it must be done on mathematical concepts such as algebra, number theory, geometry, probability and many more. However, after researching for some time I realized that what I do almost every week has a lot of mathematics involved in it. I am interested in tennis serve because I love playing tennis and it is something that I would like to know more of. An average male professional tennis player’s groundstroke is at an average speed of 70mph or about 112km/h (Tennis Serving Speed Male vs Female, n.d.). At this speed, the opponent will only have less than 1s to react. (How To See A 130 MPH Tennis Serve, n.d.). To be able to react to the shot we must be able to accomplish the three levels of response for interceptive timing tasks. First, there is the basic reaction or optomeric reaction which is seeing the ball and getting out of the way. Second, there is perceptual reaction which means you can identify the object that is coming at you and can put in some context whether it’s a ball or something else. Third, there is the cognitive reaction, meaning you know what is coming at you and able to react which in this case returning the 112km/h shot. Professional tennis player are at expert cognitive reaction through rigorous training.…

In Europe, moose are currently found in large numbers throughout Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, and the Baltic States, with more modest numbers in the southern Czech Republic, Belarus and northern Ukraine. They are also widespread through Russia on up through the borders with Finland south towards the border with Estonia, Belarus and Ukraine and stretching far away eastwards to the Yenisei River in Siberia. The European moose was native to most temperate areas that it could physically inhabit on the continent and even Scotland from the end of the last Ice Age as Europe's traditional habitat had a natural mix of temperate boreal and deciduous forest. It was certainly thriving in both Gaul and Magna Germania as it appears in military and hunting accounts of the age. However, as the Roman era faded into medieval times, the beast slowly disappeared: it survived in Alsace and the Netherlands until the 9th century as the marshlands in the latter were drained and the forests were being cleared away for feudal lands in the former. It was gone from Switzerland by 1000 AD, gone from the western Czech Republic by 1300, gone from Mecklenburg in Germany by c. 1600, and has been gone from Hungary and the Caucasus since the 18th and 19th century, respectively.…

As France elects a president on Sunday, May 6, it is an enlightening fact that François Hollande, the Socialist frontrunner whose ideas are blasted by right-wing rivals as “dangerous,” is nicknamed for a comfort food, a jiggly caramel custard called Flanby. Affable and funny, Hollande has a bent for consensus politics, which accounts for the dessert sobriquet. (Also, he was doughier before shedding pounds to run for president.) A fiscal-policy nerd elected to Parliament in France’s rural heartland, the 57-year-old Hollande cultivates blandness to show up the excitable incumbent, Nicolas Sarkozy. On the trail in February, Hollande spent 12 hours petting cows and kissing babies at Paris’s farm expo without insulting anyone. (President Sarkozy, at the same event in 2008, famously told a heckler, “Get lost, you poor bastard.”) Hollande T-shirts stamped “normal” are for sale at his rallies.…

Almost everyone has had an elderly person in their life that cared and loved them dearly. In return, those people who experienced that love will care for their elders back. However, what people do not know is that elders are generally discriminated because of age. When they participate in treatments at hospitals or programs hosted by healthcare providers, the quality of the treatment goes down. Those elders are experiencing ageism in healthcare. Ageism in healthcare is a type of oppression because elders have been mistreated due to age, denied certain medical opportunities, and experienced a decrease in the number of geriatric doctors.…
