Mindtree he said believes in a holistic KM Approach.

It is important to cover the entire life cycle of knowledge when we think of any Knowledge management initiative in an organization. And to do so we need to recognize the spiral nature of the knowledge and the interdependencies.
The 2 types of KM approaches are
Control:the organization monitors the KM database and the quality of content generated.
Community:The communities of knowledge automatically filter out junk using peer reviews which is a more transparent process.

Mindtree approach to build a KM solution • He said that people are naturally motivated to share. • KM is an emergent phenomenon • Knowledge is not produced like manufacture goods • If control is softer there will be more self organization and collaboration • Environment and culture play in important role in KM • A high focus on the needs of the Knowledge worker is essential • Change is enabled, not forced.

KM goal at Mindtree : To establish systems , Process and Culture that helps to continuously build their intellectual capital.

Intellectual capital can be found in 3 forms • Knowledge of the people/individuals of the organization. • Knowledge contained in the organizational structures, processes, social networks. • Knowledge contained in the interfaces between the organization and its clients.

KM is socio technical in nature.

A good and effective KM practice can influence the organization in the following ways

    Since the mid-1990s, knowledge management has become increasingly significant for business managers and companies. ‘It is broadly accepted that systematic knowledge management is tightly linked with gaining and sustaining competitive advantage.’ (Bogner & Bansal, 2007, p658-6 as cited in Hislop, 2009, p1) The definition of knowledge management is various because of the wide range of this concept and its complexity (Al-Hawamdeh, 2003). For example, the broad definition provided by McAdam and McCreedy (2000, p155 as cited in Hislop 2009, p53) note that: ‘KM relates to the management of anything classified as knowledge’ Furthermore, Hislop (2009, p59) suggests that: ‘Knowledge management is an umbrella term which refers to any deliberate efforts to manage the knowledge of an organization’s workforce, which can be achieved via a wide range of methods including directly, through the use of particular types of ICT, or more indirectly through the management of social processes, the structuring of organizations in particular ways or via the use of particular culture and people management practices.’…

    Knowledge management can be considered to be an essential strategic function in any organisation today. The sharing of practices throughout the organisational hierarchy, and adoption of effective techniques formulated by individuals having great expertise in the relevant field can help to improve the efficiency of the business activity. Yet the intertwining of knowledge management processes and information and communication technologies (ICT) may blind knowledge managers to the shortcomings of the use of ICT in knowledge management processes. This essay therefore seeks to present a critical evaluation of the benefits and limitations of ICT in knowledge management processes.…

    The best birthday present I had ever received was on my 17th birthday, this gift was a brand new ASUS laptop given by my parent. My parents bought me this laptop because they knew that I had been wanted this laptop for quite some times. Finally I can own it now. Prior having this laptop, we have only one old desktop at home. Our family consists of my parent and my sister. Four of us sharing this desktop, at time we encounter two or more family member wanted to use this desktop at the same time. I experienced before hand in assignments late because insufficient computers at home. Therefore, now I have my own laptop so there are no reasons for me to wait for people to finish using the computer only I can start my assignments and presentation. With this new laptop, I can use it for my school’s assignments and presentation whenever I need it. It will be easier and without delaying it anymore. Besides that, I can use the laptop for entertainments and social networking such as Facebook, MSN, Email, and Twitter. In the mean time, these activities are for me to relax myself and mind after doing assignments. I still can watch movies after I finish my assignments, play card games, Facebook games and etc. Furthermore, I still can get in touch with my friends that I had lost contact after primary six. I can use that opportunity to chat and get in touch with them to know their recent updates and status. On top of that, I can learn and search information from internet. I was very thankful to my parent for giving me this very precious gift as this gift is very useful in my day to day…
