Created during the seventh century Kouros and Kore are free-standing Greek sculptures of young nude male and young clothed female. The term Kouros and Kore are modern terms originally coined by archeologist V.I. Leonardos in 1895 for a statue dedicated to the god Apollo. Kuros became an official generic term for a freestanding male figure in 1904 by Henri Lechat. The earliest kore produced according to archeologist is the Dedication of Nikandre for Artemis in Delos. The Kore that is most famous from this period is the Phrasikleia Kore, she is a grave marker to a young girl of the same name. Hestia is one of three virgin goddesses in the Greek Olympians. Hestia vowed to Zeus that she would remain forever pure and undefiled never entering a union with a man. As the goddess of the hearth, she personified the idea of household, house, or family. Evidence to support this claim Sevenbro cites the front inscription references the gods and marriage. Other scholars suggest that Kore are a representation of a goddess but have certain quality from the original person. In the instance of Phrasikleia, since she passed at such a young age, her facial feature could be integrated into the statue. The polychromic palette of the statue could also be her families’
