We Filipinos are now living in the modern world of 21st century, not just by literally living in that time but we Filipinos are also trying to follow the track of what the foreigners are doing or in other words, we always want to follow the new trend. We can clearly see the generation gap that made the world now and the past ten years is different. In the past ten years, the outside culture will take a long time to absorb in our country. It’s a different situation now, with everything at our fingertip, and the simple example would be in the entertainment industry. The latest fashion, style, music, film, movie and in a simple word, an entertainment will easily enter our country without hesitation and no boundaries. It has been recorded to our teleserye history that Philippine TV has been airing foreign series since late 1990’s. It seems like Filipinos really enjoyed the series from the different countries like Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, and most of all, in Korea. They gave a warm welcome and gave an overwhelming rating to those series that they aired. And they even tried to adopt some foreign stories to give Filipinos a different vibe of series that we get used to and to give our own version of that particular foreign series. February 18, 2014. Six to 10 p.m. is TV’s primetime. Mr. Lito Atienza said that this will help the Filipinos to support our own multimedia works. And many Filipino celebrities agreed to this new house bill. How come they won’t disagree, it will be their advantage because the Filipinos will only focus to their works. If Philippine directors and staffs really want the Filipinos to support their own works, they should view more the foreign works as their competitor and not as the threat to their works; they should produce stories that has more different vibe, an out of the box kind of story and will give a new taste to every Filipino. After this controversial kind of new house bill, there are some rumors spreading all over the internet. It is all about the banning of the KPOP or the music of Korean Pop here in our country. It really does sound so funny, because there are so many problems that are country is now facing, and they are focusing on a very minor problem, in fact, this shouldn’t be viewed as a problem because it helps to attract the tourism here in our country to some foreigners. The biggest factor of the KPOP scene that helps the tourism here in our country is by the concerts of Korean groups, by those concerts, it helps to show and prove to foreigners especially to Koreans that our country is trusted and safe to be a vacation spot. And in fact, Koreans are the No. 1 tourists in the Philippines. According to the Department of Tourism (DOT), 1.65 million tourists visited the Philippines from January to April last year, up by 10.12 percent compared to the same period last year. The most number of tourists came from South Korea with 406,595, or 24.65 percent of the total, and a growth of 23.08 percent. Why we Filipinos are so proud and have this over-filling joy when our own multimedia works, like movies, TV series, songs and even album are being acknowledged to other countries?
