Part 1: Reading and Review
Writing Task 1: Review of Beautiful Creatures, focussing on the main themes of the work. This work was written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl,
(2009); first published by Little, Brown in the USA. This edition published by Penguin (2012).
I will be reviewing Beautiful Creatures (2009), focussing on the main themes in the book and how these themes relate to each other, and the characters in the book. The main themes that can be identified in this book are love, fate, social acceptance and last but not least, the theme of light and dark, or good versus evil.
Beautiful Creatures (2009) is a Fantasy Young Adult novel set in the small town of Gatlin, South Carolina. Ethan

I will be reviewing Beautiful Creatures (2009), focussing on the main themes in the book and how these themes relate to each other, and the characters in the Beautiful Creatures (2009) is a Fantasy Young Adult novel set in the small town of Gatlin, South Carolina it, "I was in love with her, even though I didn 't know her. Kind of like love before first sight." (2012:5) against their fate, for the time being. However, there is no telling if they will win the war in then next book, Beautiful Darkness (2010). There are no grey areas in Beautiful Creatures (2009); it’s black and white, light and dark and good and evil all the way Lena between light and dark, which you can read in her poetry as she writes "darkfire, lightdark / dark matter, what matters?" (2012:439) Social class and acceptance also play a big role in Beautiful Creatures (2009). Beautiful Creatures (2009) was a pleasant read, rich with imagery and history, but one thing that I found lacking was the Characterisation
