INTRODUCTION
University of Karachi, founded in 1951, is one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in Pakistan. It offers rigorous and vibrant Graduate and Postgraduate degree programs in the fields of Arts, Business Management, Islamic Studies, Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, Education and Engineering. The research and teaching programs are supervised by more than 1000 qualified faculty members. These postgraduate programs are being offered in 56 teaching Departments and 26 Research Institutes/Centers. University of Karachi offers the upcoming graduate and post-graduate students a multi-disciplinary environment, state-of-the-art laboratories, digital library, video conferencing facilities and is committed to its tradition of producing top-quality graduates in cutting-edge areas of Business and Management Sciences, Bio-Medical & Engineering Sciences, Social and Natural Sciences and Technology. The programs have been developed in view of the emerging needs of industries and R&D organizations, both in public and private sectors. During the last five years, University of Karachi has awarded more than 1100 M.Phil/Ph.D degrees. Presently, more than 3000 students are enrolled in M.Phil, Ph.D. and other research degree programs. University of Karachi faculty members are pursuing research in various disciplines and publishing extensively in journals of international repute.
