Kudler Fine Foods is an upscale specialty food store that was founded by Kathy Kudler. Kathy Kudler opened the first Kudler Fine Foods on June 18, 1998 in La Jolla, California. In 2000, Ms. Kudler opened a second store in Del Mar. In 2003, she opened her third store in Encinitas (Apollo Group, 2011). Kudler Fine Foods prides themselves on providing their customers with the finest quality food which includes bakery and pastry products, fresh produce, fresh meat and seafood, condiments, packaged foods and cheese and specialty dairy products and an extensive list of fine wines and spirits. Kudler Foods will need to update this infrastructure to accommodate the needed updates for the current three stores, as well as the online business. As the business grows, Kudler Foods will need to update the infrastructure that they already have to be able to handle the day to day business needs. Kudler Foods will need to centralize all three existing stores to a central database with the capability of adding more stores in the future as well as to accommodate their Internet business. By centralizing all business aspects of their business this will allow them to centrally store information on their customers, vendors, associates and all other agents that deal with this company on a daily basis. Kudler Food’s IT manager can set up different levels of access points depending on the need to know level of that associate. For example, by centralizing customer information this will allow the customer to shop at all three stores and the associate dealing with them to be able to access their information for coupons, birthdays and other information that may be needed for that transaction.
Online Ordering
Kudler Foods needs to update their current website and offer the products that are offered in the store online. This would allow visitors that have experienced the store locally and others to purchase any of the products sold from their own homes and have them delivered worldwide. This will help them get control of their inventory and increase profitability. This system will allow the department managers to place their inventory orders and those orders to be routed to the purchasing manager or inventory manager at the central store. By having centralized software and tracking system will allow Kudler Foods to order in bulk orders, reducing the price of each product on costs and shipping. It will also keep up with the current inventory at each store and alert the purchasing manager or inventory manager to place needed orders when supplies are running low at the three stores. This system will also centralize the invoices for the accounting department so that the suppliers and vendors can be paid in a timely and professional
