Experiencing these 2 operas, I was able to comprehend the incredible talents of the Auburn University’s Department of Music Opera Workshop performers. Each performance allowed the performers to showcase their vocal talents greatly; as well as showing their strict practicing by knowing the vocal queues with the music as well as with each other to never sound off or un-synced with each other.…

When I first saw the play I payed no attention to the costumes but enjoy the overall play, which mean that costume designers did a good job. According to professor Landis, she says that costumes should not be the main focus but improve the overall environment of the play. Once I look back to picture of the play, I start noticing costumes. I find it beautiful how all the characters wore emerald, lively clothing to add to the wonder of Emerald City. I also notice that Elphaba has the famous wiked witch hat but the costume designer made modification that make it appear like the orignial hat, but it looks more suiting to a beautiful younge women. This production used a lot of change of set design as well as the use of expensive effects. For instant, during the scene were there is flying monkeys, the audience not only see a million monkeys appearing as if they are going to take flight but the huge dragon on top of the stage comes alive. During this scene the light technicitan uses red lights on the stage and the background is Elsabub castle. The use of red lights, loud sounds, and the…

The piece was extremely clever how they only used four actors during the entire show. This brings me onto costumes. The costumes in this production were very bare and essential for quick changes while on stage, and this gave the play a comic feel because they changed on the stage in front of the audience. Many times the costume was a plain suit and the actors played different characters by simplistically putting so a hat, coat or a prop. I enjoyed this because it helped me associate different characters with the little bit of costume they had.…

I like the set design of the play it looks realistic it seems like you are living in moment. For example, the wall was made of wood but the color contrast gave a realist impression. Also, the set design is important because it gives idea to audience where the setting of the play is located. Although the building in this play were relatively new, the original Broadway play set design was very worn out. In my opinion, if the play was old then the set design should look like the original Broadway play because on Avenue Q middle and lower class family leave. The apartment look like they leave on Avenue A. In additional, the costume is also important so the audience can figure out who they are. I think costume also show the personality of a character like upper, middle, and lower class and the costume designer of this play did great work. Especially, when two or three character wearing black cloths and the puppets were in red, blue, and green this shows the color…

History of music from 1650 to 1800 can be described by three major periods, the middle Baroque, the late Baroque / early Classical, and Classical eras. The middle Baroque can be described as a time of developing and standardizing musical forms, styles, and conventions, and then obeying those conventions in the creation of new music. The second era found the undoing of these conventions in two important areas, prompting the end of the Baroque and beginning of the Classical era. The final era describes a period of newer conventions, built from the changes presented to Baroque music by its creators. This evolution can best be understood by careful investigation of musical conventions through these three periods.…

For example, Wang Leehom’s song “at Mei Bian” is based on the Tang Xianzu’s masterpiece “The Peony Pavilion” in Ming Dynasty. The story talked about the lady Du Liniang and the scholar Liu Mengmei’s life and death love. The pop song cleverly combines the graceful singing tunes of Kun opera with rap, which made the music more fresh and melodious. To attract more listeners, it is possible to combine classical opera with modern pop music, and this innovation is inevitable. Wang Leehom gives the song a new soul with the romantic love story by combining two different art forms.…

“You’re 18 years old, now move out.” For some teenagers coming of age, this is one of the first things they hear after blowing out candles on there birthday. But is 18 years old to young? I had to make a choice, either move out as soon as possible after finally being able to buy lighters, or stay home for a while and go to college. In the article “Generation Debt” by Anya Kamenetz, the author states that “...five milestones of maturity are: leaving home, finishing school, becoming financially independent, getting married, and having a child” (Kamenetz 148). So as an 18 year old, looking at this list of achievable goals, I have to choose the best possible path for helping me complete everything. I think staying home, living with mom and pop or whoever it is, is the best decision to can make while you’re trying to complete your schooling. If a student has to worry about focusing on paying the bills while trying to focus on what they should do for homework every night, life could get in the way of school. Money doesn’t come easy, and in a tough economy like ours, it’s difficult for someone fresh out of high school to jump on the work force train while trying to focus on getting a better education to possibly help them further themselves in the future. Students should focus on their schooling before everything else, it’s what will help in the future so they can achieve the “five milestones of maturity” previously stated. Staying home for college students is better simply because they will be able to save more not having to pay for living, and will allow for students to focus on themselves and find out what they actually want to do with there life.…
