Kyla's Growing Up: Poem Analysis

This song relates to Kyla’s dreams that she has almost every night, which is a character v.s self conflict. Unknowing of the meaning of those dreams, sometimes Kyla wakes up with pools of sweat around her. She feels a connection between the dreams and her, but she doesn’t know what that is. Since she has been slated, all her memories have been erased leaving her with a fresh start. Most of the dreams that Kyla has are frightening and confusing. The song’s lyrics describe how Kyla feels during/after her dream: “Hiding under the bed, in my body, in my head” (0:37). The speaker in this song shows the fear by hiding in his/her bed from the “monster”. Just like the song, Kyla feels the same because she wants to hide from the terrifying dream. Terry
