This stops them from getting harmed by other inmates, inmates in addition can appeal this for their own safety if they feel threatened. Do I really have to mention that it is freezing cold outside and the temperature is below -8? Can you imagine how my family can survive under such extreme weather without the heating system. I have two very young children and a pregnant wife. You are given a very last chance to fix the problem by arranging repair service by 14 Nov 10 and we demand a formal apology from your company. Otherwise, I will ask for a repair service from another vendor and of course, the cost will be recovered from the rent to be paid next month. According to the lease, we are entitled to a fully-furnished house with all basic facilities available including the central heating system. I suspect that the heating system has been broken down a long time ago before we moved in and your agency cheated us into taking this house…

Due to increasing crime rates and the extensive belief that rehabilitative programs for inmates do not work, a new and harsher method for prisons is being utilized. Instead of scattering the worst criminals, they are being consolidated into Supermax prisons. Supermax prisons are state of the art penitentiaries meant to hold only the worst of the worst criminals and inmates that cannot be trusted in regular prisons. There are strict regulations and policies to control inmates’ time for communication, recreation, visiting, religious practices, and education even more than regular prisons. More often than not, “inmates in supermax prisons spend 23 hours of every day locked in a small cell” (Hickey pg. 160). Supermax prisons work upon the premise that the most violent and disorderly inmates can be better controlled “by separation, restricted movement, and limited access to staff and other inmates” (Hickey pg. 167). While supermax prisons are believed to reduce crime and increase safety, there are questions of whether or not this is actually the case.…

In 2010 41% of transgender Americans attempted suicide. 19% of transgender people report being refused medical care and 2% have been violently assaulted in a Dr.'s office. These shocking statistics are from the United Sates. The place that's known to be a melting pot; where every person whether they're black, white, purple, orange, or just plain weird - is treated equally. We have allowed this to happen to our country. How could we be so cruel, heartless, and unsympathetic? Where did our understanding go? The understanding that allowed freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the billion other things that founded this once beautiful country. Put simply, this ongoing transgender battle leaves human beings feeling less than others and abused;…

Who are the people often labeled with the acronym LGBT? LGBT’s or lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgenders, are members of every race, religion, gender, and ethnicity. But how do we identify them, address their health needs? Unlike ethnicity, race, religion, gender, and income, which are all questions posed on the U.S. Census, neither sexual orientation nor gender identity are listed. (American Community Survey, 2013) According to HealthPeople.gov, this question is included on few state or federal surveys functionally ignoring that LGBT’s are represented in each and every one of these categories. (LGBT Health, 2013) With this in mind it becomes a little more difficult to pin down just whom the people are that make up this vulnerable population. Vulnerable because of their limited access to proper health care and a resultant risk for poor health as a result of their economic status, age, ethnicity, disease process and other factors. (Vulnerable Populations: Who Are They?, 2006)…

The first website I visited was called No Longer Silent: Clergy for Justice. Their main focus was on an alternative Christian perspective on the issue of homosexuality. They basically believed in advocating justice for all, especially Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, and Transgendered persons. The support that I see they give is a sense of belonging. They give the support that many seek with is religious acceptance. This organization is very unique because for many years the church has never really given gays a home; No Longer Silent gives us that place to go to for moral support. Their website gave educational materials like articles on news pertaining to our community. Also materials like scriptures from that give the LGBT community, who are not familiar with the bible; some interpretations and teachings.…
