centered in the white band is a radiant yellow sun with a human face known as the Sun of May. The colors that appear on the flag symbolize the clear skies and snow of the Andes mountains. The sun symbol represents the appearance of the sun through cloudy skies on the twenty-fifth of May in eighteen-ten during the first mass demonstration in favor of independence. The sun’s facial features are those of Inti, the Inca god of the sun.
One major festival that Argentina hosts is held two weeks before Lent, Argentina celebrates El Carnaval del Pais much like New Orleans celebrates Mardi Gras, a gigantic extravaganza. Many people celebrate the activities, considering it is an “off” day for businesses and schools. The town of Gualeguaychu organizes the largest Carnaval celebration in Argentina. The town's 38,000-seat center known as the Corsodromo, hosts a "Kings of the Carnaval" celebration, where samba clubs and musicians compete for the title. In Buenos Aires culture, most neighborhoods party with street musicians knowns as "murgas" and artists. During Carnival, people dress in costume and dance in the streets. Traditional fare is served, with a respect to Roman Catholicism by replacing beef with fish during this early start to Lent. Corn stew, humitas en chala and Bocaditos are popular during Carnaval.
A great attraction in Argentina is Iguazu Falls. Iguazu Falls is an insanely popular tourist attraction located in Misiones Province. The waterfall consists of over two hundred seventy-five individual waterfalls and covers about two point seven kilometers of land wide. The most popular attraction is “Devil’s Throat” a waterfall with a breathtaking drop of three-hundred fifty feet. Surrounding the falls consist of almost two-thousand different types of plants. When the first Lady Eleanor Roosevelt visited the falls for the first time felt pity for the American Waterfalls called the Niagara Falls, she said, "Poor Niagara".
A must see place to visit in Argentina is La Boca.
La Boca means mouth in Spanish, it is named this because the city is placed at the mouth of the river that runs alongside. Although the area can be sketchy at night, this iconic, bohemian city is a crafty attraction. Before this city became such a popular tourist attraction, it originated as a port for immigrants to come in through. La Boca is so eye catching due to its colorful buildings and old structures. La Boca is sometimes referred to as artist colony because of all the murals painted throughout the city, making it so visually appealing. La Boca is also home to The Boca Juniors, a very big soccer team in Argentina. La Boca is a bit of a weird place. It’s a working class city with a sketchy area at night, yet it has a couple of very popular tourist attractions. It’s not a place where expats are going to want to live because of the danger factor during the night time, but it still has some wonderful restaurants, a pretty art museum, and an interesting history to discover.
Overall, the country of Argentina is a very spectacular place to visit. Argentina is a beautiful historic place with amazing natural exhibits. The country appeals to many with its grand populations. Some attractions to see if you ever have the time in Argentina are El Carnaval, Iguazu Falls, and La
boca.
