Klaxon horns, Thomas Flyers, and 4-stroke engines doesn’t seem to be the something you would have heard in Cheyenne in 1909. Many may assume of a growing Western town part of the developing West there would be terms related to cattle, rodeos and continuing to tame the Wild West. However, the Industrial Age was in full swing and many in Cheyenne wanted to be a part of this flourishing new revolution.…

Each soldier carried at least twenty pounds of supplies, weapons, and rations on their backs. They would walk all day, and all night. They didn’t even know where they were going or where they would stop. The things they carried were largely determined by necessity. Tim O’Brien writes “Some of the necessities were P-38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets, packets of Kool-Aid, lighters, matches, C rations and two or three canteens of water. By necessity, and because it was standard operating procedure they all carried steel helmets that weighed five pounds. On their feet they carried jungle boots, which weighed two pounds. They also carried a steel-centered nylon covered flak jacket which weighed seven pounds” (O’Brien 266). Besides the three standard weapons- the M-60, M-16, and M-79, they carried whatever they thought appropriate. The men would sometimes discard ammunition during the day along the trail to lighten their weight. They did this because the choppers would be coming the next morning to give them more ammo. They often smoked dope together and picked fun at one another during the evening to pass the time.…
McManners, Hugh. The Complete Wilderness Training Manual: Second Revised Edition. New York: DK, 2007. Print. In multiple chapters of this book, it shows step-by-step instructions with visuals on how to make a simple “tent” in the wild out of supplies simply scavenged throughout the woods. The author includes a huge model of different terrains descriptively pointing out where to find something. Navigating terrains are well-enforced in this chapter, for it shows every little detail to living in the wilderness. For the shelter site, it provides pointers on to where it should be located for convenience and…
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 10th anniversary edition is worth considering buying for its unique features and overall finesse of the vehicle. Merely going off the jeep wrangler rubicon 10th anniversay edition reviews, it is definitely worth taking a quick, or maybe longer look at then others, with one of a kind interier and exterier. "Popularmechanics.com" gives a breakdown of the main aspects car buyers look at, price, fuel economy, driving character, and of course the details that make it the 10th anniversary edition. According to Dan Carneys review, "the 10th Anniversary Edition of the Wrangler Rubicon adds a unique red leather interior and a few off-road features that Jeep fanatics will appreciate"(1). I can definitely agree with the author on how the red interior and off road features add a little more eye candy for the buyers. That little extra detail really makes the eyes wonder a little while longer, compared to an all black interior. Though, driving an off-road truck on-road is probably one of the biggest concerns buyers will have here.…

Put a hook of some sort here… “Back Roads”, by Vinnie Rotondaro, and “A Winter’s Drive”, by ReadWorks, there is a common theme throughout the stories: the discovery of freedom and tranquility that is blatantly present. Not only do the stories share a common theme, but they also share other similarities, such as a male protagonist, the main character’s choice to take a ride in his car, the lazy flow of the story, to name a few characteristics. Despite the many similarities, there are also a plethora of differences present in the story, such as the destination of the protagonist’s drive, and the weather surrounding the main characters.…
My fourth item that I would like to take along is a blanket. This item could be used in multiple ways. The first way of course is to sleep on it. This item would be very important to me because it is a survival tool. I could use this blanket to keep me off the ground or wrap up in it to keep myself warm. The second way that I could use the blanket is to carry items in it. Since the people…

The process of preparing to go duck hunting is quite tedious. A hunter must pack thoroughly, not just the average cooking utensils but also: duck calls, blinds, seats, clothes, food, a trailer, decoys, guns, and much more. I usually prepare for North Dakota a week early, because I feel so excited, which gives me more time to become prepared. Usually I go with my dad and my sister, but the year I am going on the “man” trip with my dad and uncle. It will be more fun in my eyes, because I am with more experienced hunters, and that makes the trip easier. People might be wondering why I need all these decoys and duck calls. They are quick to learn once I tell them.…
The movie Road to El Dorado was modeled around the historical event of the Spanish conquest of Mexico. It was a movie that was supposed to be full of humor that treaded the line of being very disrespectful to me. The Spanish conquests were a gruesome battle which millions of innocent people were killed. How can you turn a tragic event in history into an animated film, what’s next an animated film of the holocaust? Very poor judgment on making this movie by Dreamworks in my opinion.…

Over time, camping can become a way of life, using many different skills you wouldn’t use otherwise. Camping is a special type of vacationing that can teach you different kinds of skills you probably wouldn’t use in everyday life such as: learning to roast the perfect marshmallow, building a fire, making use of material you have, and so much more. While in the Upper Peninsula for a couple weeks my dad and I had many marshmallow roasting contests to see who could make the best smore. For most of the weeks my dad had me beat 10 to 1, however by the end of the vacation he had taught me what it takes to roast a perfect marshmallow. Although I still struggle to roast the perfect marshmallow every time, I now know that I shouldn’t stick my marshmallow…
