LAB 1 Background and Hypothesis:
I know I haven’t passed the lab 1 H and B but I really do not want to lose points again just for the fact I didn’t get it done in time. I already lost -5 pts and I really don’t want to lose -20 pts.
So I am just gonna go on a whim here and just get it done through here so it doesn’t automatically fail me without me at least trying.

Background: Test to see if people who are Left Handed would be left thumb dominant and compare to see people who are Right Handed to be more inclined to be right thumb dominant or if there is any opposing examples that show a Right handed person to have a left thumb dominant when they clamp their hands together.
Hypothesis: When someone is Right handed, they more likely to be Right Thumb Dominant or left hand dominant? Is there more right thumb dominant people than there are left thumb dominant people?

I think that free earlobes is the dominant trait (Because none of the 20 people I surveyed had attached earlobes). I think that no hair on knuckles is the dominant trait (Because 75% of the people I that surveyed had it). I think that straight hair line is the dominant trait ( Because 75% of the people I that surveyed had it). I don't know whether straight hair or curly hair is the dominant trait (Because it was an even split). I think that no cleft chin is the dominant trait (Because 90% of the people I surveyed had it). I don't seem to exhibit any of the recessive traits shown here. I shared the same chin shape, earlobes and amount of hair on knuckles. I didn't exhibit any trait that was not exhibited in my parents. If an offspring exhibited a recessive trait that neither parent exhibited, it would mean that both parents carried it. I was surprised that none of the 20 people had attatched earlobes. Yes, It is possible that a recessive trait…

After doing some research, I have come to the conclusion my theories were incorrect and that handedness has a dominant and recessive allele. According to psychologistworld.com, “Approximately 10-13% of the population is left-handed.” This could mean that the allele for left-handedness is recessive considering that it is so uncommon. Also, according to the same site, “Generally, males are three times more likely to be left-handed than females.” This could show that this gene is sex-linked because men are more likely to show sex-linked traits because all they need is one allele for that trait and there is nothing to go with it because the Y sex chromosome does not carry sex-linked traits.…
