INTRODUCTION
The Reynolds number (Re) is a dimensionless number that gives a measure of the ratio of inertial forces to viscous forces and consequently quantifies the relative importance of these two types of forces for given flow conditions. Measurement of the fluid flow, often must understand its flow, flow rate distribution. Reynolds number is the characterization of fluid flow characteristics of an important parameter. Fluid flow when the inertial force F g and viscous forces (the friction) F m ratio known as the Reynolds number.

OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of conducting this experiment were: 1. To visualize laminar, transitional and turbulent flows. 2. To determine the conditions under which types of flow occur. 3. To compute Reynolds Number (Re) on fluid flow conditions.

EQUIPMENTS AND APPARATUS a) Dye reservoir. b) Stilling tank. c) Observation tube. d) Stopwatch e) Graduated cylinder

THEORY
Reynolds number is used to distinguish between laminar, transitional and turbulent flows.

Re = Reynolds number
V = Fluid velocity (m/s) d = Pipe diameter (0.012m) v = Kinematic viscosity (0.893 x 10-6m2/s)

Laminar Flow, Re < 2000
Laminar flow denotes a steady condition where all stream lines follow parallel paths. Under this condition, the dye will remain easily identifiable as a solid core.

Transitional Flow, 2000 < Re < 4000
Transitional flow is a mixture of laminar and turbulent flow, with turbulence in the

    The homogenates provided were made by homogenizing tissues in a sucrose phosphate buffer in a 1:20 ratio. The protein concentration in bovine cells was measured by diluting the homogenate with a 1:5 ratio; 50 microliters of homogenate and 200 microliters of water. Then 5 known protein concentration samples which were 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2.0 mg/ml of bovine serum were used to determine absorbance with a spectrophotometer.     1. The Respiratory exchange ratio is the ratio of the volume of carbon dioxide produced and oxygen consumed. The ratio indicates the energy that the subject is expending for indirect calorimetry, how efficient the subject 's body is at utilizing the oxygen inhaled, as well as the main substrate being used for energy during varying intensities of exercise. During rest the volume of carbon dioxide was 0.73L/min, the volume of oxygen was 0.84L/min. The RQ or RER was 0.87. Based on Table 5.1(Kenney,Wilmore, &Costill, 2012; Physiology of Sport and Exercise(5th ed.) The ratio indicates that roughly 68% of the kcal that the subject was using came from carbohydrates and the remaining 32% of the kcal came from fat. During the 50W stage the volume of carbon dioxide was 2.2L/min and the volume of oxygen was 2.9L/min. The RQ was 0.79, which indicates that the 33% of the kcal that the subject was using came from carbohydrates and that 67% of the kcal came from fat. In the 100W stage the volume of carbon dioxide was 4.08L/min and the volume of oxygen consumed was 4.1L/min. The RQ came out o be 0.99, the substrate being used was only carbohydrates at this point. The 200w stage had a carbon dioxide volume of 7.91L/min and a oxygen consumed volume of 6.51L/min.     The objectives of handling this experiment are to study the characteristics of laminar, turbulent and transition flows by calculating the Reynold’s number of each flow and by observing the behavior of the flow itself. Besides that, this experiment is in conduct in order to determine the range for laminar and turbulent flow as well as to prove that Reynold’s number is dimensionless by calculating by using the formula. The experiment was started with laminar flow. In order to obtain the laminar flow, the valve for the water inlet was adjusted so that the laminar flow can be achieved. The flows for laminar is slow, so the water inlet is small. After obtain the specific flow, amount of water was collected 5 seconds. Then, by using the formula, the Reynold’s number can be obtained. The water was collected for 3 times in order to obtain the average or to know the range for the flow. The experiment was repeated by alter the valve so that the water inlet changes in order to obtained turbulent or transitional flow. At the same time, when collecting the water, the behavior of the flow which maybe laminar, turbulent or transitional flow is observed. The result obtained has showed the range for laminar, turbulent and transitional flow. For laminar flow, the Reynold’s number must be less than 2100. For transitional flow, the Reynold’s number is between 2100 and 4000. Lastly, the Reynold’s number for turbulent flow is more than 4000. From the results and calculation using the formula, the Reynold’s number was proved to be dimensionless.…
