INTRODUCTION
A. Background of the Study
Concentration has been defined as the ability to direct one's thinking in whatever direction one would intend.
Concentration plays vital roles in doing well in studies. A student has to work really hard and concentrate firmly to get concepts well in mind.
All students have the ability to concentrate some of the time. But at other times students’ thoughts are scattered, and their minds race from one thing to another. They don’t have the ability to cope up with the lessons quickly because of the thoughts that runs through their minds while studying or while the professors are discussing. Lack of concentration represents some form of conflict between other desires and academic goals. But this circumstance is said to be unavoidable.
Concentration means different things to different people. Some students mean that they are unable to stick with a subject or assignment long enough to master it; others mean that they think of first one thing another, but rarely the content of the subject. They do not comprehend the material despite persistence and the prevention of mind wandering.
Lack of concentration is said to be one of the major causes of failure in studies these days. Therefore, it is important to discover just what causes a student's "lack of concentration" before attempting to decrease the difficulty.
These research aims to discuss the reasons of students in lack of concentration on their studies. The objective of this research is to prove that lack of concentration is a great factor that affects the academic performance of the students.
B. Statement of the Problem This study aims to answer these questions: 1. What are the causes of lack of concentration on the academic performance of the students? 2. What are the effects of lack of concentration on the studies of the students? 3. What are the factors that influence lack of concentration? 4. How can students overcome lack of concentration to their
