Who does hunger effect? It affects families, seniors, people with disabilities on a fixed income, and the working class which cannot afford the basic necessities of life. It's a reality we face. It is a choice between, lighting, heat, medication, or feeding your family. How can a developed world such as Canada have so many of its citizens going hungry?
Lack of money has 850,000 people going to food banks each month. One-third of these are children. Canada has an unstable job market. Without enough jobs, it fails to ensure that its citizens are earning livable wages.
There is a lack of low-cost housing, and affordable childcare that women are unable to join the work force. The cost of living is increasing, but the wages are not. We are in a downward spiral and sinking fast. What changes are in order before this problem becomes worse?
Education is the key for a dramatic change. Firstly, teach children how to budget, ensuring they get a grasp on the ideas of finance before reaching adulthood. Secondly learn how to make up a proper meal plan its a excellent way to get what you need and to save money. Lastly, I think a fantastic idea would be showing people to live off the land, garden, grow produce, can goods and hunt. Knowledge, in my opinion, goes a long way.
Hunger is in every neighborhood, which affects the young, the old, friends and family. Education and money are the answer to help save us from an increasing problem. Let's band together and volunteer. Let's fix this as a community, as a province, and as a country.
