Lady And The Tiger Literary Analysis

In the “Lady and the Tiger,” by Frank Stockton, the princess chooses mortality for her lover because of envy of someone else. For example, in the story it says, “often had she seen, or imagined that she had seen, this fair lady glance admiringly upon [him], and sometimes she thought these glances were noticed.” This quote shows that she wishes she could get the glances he is giving the women. In addition, the author tells us “her soul at a white heat beneath the combined fires of despair and jealousy.” In this piece of text, it directly states that she desires she could be in the girls position.
