This is the scene where Lady Macbeth shows that she needs to find the manpower inside her to able to betray the King. This quote shows that Lady Macbeth is truly evil as she is asking spirits to grant her the strength to hide her guilt and go through with her plan without any hesitation. One the other hand though, it also means that deep inside her, she isn’t how she’s acting because she asking spirits for this privilege. Here Lady Macbeth is telling Macbeth to pretend to be innocent so that he can fool people that he’s on their side. In the mean time, while the night shadows protect him from his evil intensions, he will be able to attack the King. This is an excellent quote to show how evil and ruthless Lady Macbeth is. In fact it is Lady Macbeth who’s telling Macbeth to lay low and pretend to be loyal to King Duncan when in true fact, he is plotting against King Duncan and ends up killing the king.
