Macbeth is a brave and courageous general who has earned everyone’s respect. However, Lady Macbeth manipulates Macbeth to preform evil duties to take the throne of Scotland. “ Art thou afeard/ To be the same in thine own act and valor/ As thou art in desire? Wouldst thou have that which thou esteem’st the ornament of life,/ And Live the coward in thine own esteem (I.vii. 39-43). Lady Macbeth is trying to manipulate Macbeth by calling him a coward who is filled with fear for not attempting his plan to reach King of Scotland.
