At the age of fifty she had retired from court. The Tale of Genji had been a huge work of literature with 54 parts and nearly 1200 pages long. The story focuses on the love and life of an attractive son of the emperor. It was also a a very popular novel in court. Though, it still remains today because it was a phycological novel that showed people what life in court was like in the Heian period. In conclusion during the Heian period a lot was accomplished especially in writing. With Murasaki’s novel, its being the first of its time, have now influenced some novels out today. Murasaki had to struggle with a lot of loss but also, she had to deal with some luck. Her luck included The Tale of Genji and going to court because few people comparable to her get to live a life as lucky as Murasaki had.
