Lambda Psi Letter Sample
I am writing on behalf of Ms. Folashade V. John, Candidate for Membership Intake for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. – Lambda Psi Chapter. Understanding the importance of letters of recommendation, I am writing this letter to not only serve as a critical component of her packet, but also reveal that her qualifications, characteristics, and experiences have prepared her for membership in our grand sisterhood.

I have had the pleasure of mentoring Ms. John for four years and have observed Ms. John’s growth not only professionally, but also in her civic pursuits. She is a multi-talented leader with a proven track record of excellent communication, organization, and execution skills. Folashade has held many leadership positions; but more importantly knows how to and when

John has also supported Lambda Psi Chapter’s Mind, Body and Soul Weekend, 22 Hour Fitness event and Gator Nation Field Day.

Folashade’s spirit and essence is captured in Soror Bethune’s remarks. Folashade is not concerned with the fashionable aspects of sorority life; her concern rests in the duty that all women, especially Delta women, should share – one of making the world a better place for all people.

Ms. John is a highly intelligent, creative, driven, dependable and caring woman. She is a team player that exemplifies all the qualities and characteristics that would make her an outstanding addition to our beloved sisterhood. Within the contingency of women who desire invitations to cloak themselves in the crimson and cream, I see Folashade V.

As the days go by rugged women are challenging the Creole culture by becoming more independent. In the Creole culture, that takes place here in Louisiana, “men are seen as dominant” and can be possessive and controlling of their wife. As the rights of women progress in America the social changes within the creoles change. Within society most women have stopped being those “who idolized their children, worshiped their husbands, and esteemed it a holy privilege to efface themselves as individuals,” but they are now women who focus on themselves rather than following the influence of their husbands. (pg.10) Today for women there is a new sense of individuality and purpose for women to live their own lives. With this, there is hope for a new society…
