1. Give a brief biography of yourself in the areas of leadership, community service, and interests/hobbies
I believe I am a great leader because I am the second oldest of seven siblings, of whom I have to take charge of frequently, and because I was a DECA officer in the 2016-2017 year, helping whenever I could at events such as the role play nights or running the store during a game. Just this semester I was the leader of the DECA store twice, working for about 4-5 hours total this semester and about 6-8 last semester. Each time I worked, the games had a very large attendance, making the store extremely hectic yet efficient.
For community service, I recently volunteered with my church and did some service projects for the community. We cleaned

What do you feel is the greatest need of the Lancer student population? What ideas or suggestions do you think might help solve this need? I think the greatest need of the Lancer student population is involvement. Many of the students will only go to events if their friends are going or there is some sort of incentive such as a prize. Obviously that is an issue, because that means all of the hard work that was put into an event would have been counterproductive. To ensure that events that are put on appeal to the majority of the student body, I’d suggest that two annual surveys, one at the beginning and end of the year, would be handed to each student during their grade specific class, such as Freshmen Literature or U.S. History, giving a list of events that the school could put on, and if the student wants that event, he or she should circle the option. By giving two surveys, one at the beginning of the school year and one near the end, the leaders in charge of the events will know which events are the most popular and which are less popular, so that they can decide which events to put on and which ones to wait on. The reason I suggest this implementation is because some events are not interesting to people, and some events are incredible but aren’t run enough. The surveys will figure out what events are popular and which ones should be run before they’re actually

I was able to complete my volunteer hours at Salvation Army located at 90-23 161 street. At Salvation Army, I chose to help feed the homeless by helping with the food pantry on Thursdays. I was tasked to hand out food such as chicken, cans of soup, bread, and much more too each family. Additionally, I helped set up for the food pantry and cleaned up afterwards which consisted of packaging leftover foods and helping store food in the storage room.…

The most meaningful service activities that I have performed while at UTD would definitely be leading the volunteering team at Jonathan's Place, an emergency shelter for homeless kids. I had the honor to volunteer as a member of the Global Business Organization since August 2015, and took over the program in the Fall of 2016. During my visits at Jonathan's Place, I understood the value of education and love. The children that live at the shelter have gone through different types of domestic violence, and require a lot of attention and patience. Those small kids have thought me to appreciate my life in a way that I would have never been able to do by myself. I have been so move and change through these volunteering activities that I will continue…

At many of my previous jobs I was shown that a leader was someone who constantly told you what do but did not set an example. Thanks to Greg, Nikki, and many others in our management team, I have learned what it means to be a true leader. Their work ethic is an example alone. It has taught me to show pride in my work, always be productive, to help team members when needed, to have integrity, and patience, and so much more. I have had many ups and few downs at Jamba Juice, however regardless of what is going on I always strive to do the best I can do. I personally cannot think of many thing that I have brought to improve the store, but more like what I have learned and applied to my daily work ethic. I believe I have helped our store improve by always having great customer service and treating each guest with respect. I also believe I have helped improve our store by never going against authority, and always following direction. Teaching some or our new team members how to sell tumblers, and guiding to constantly be productive overall being the best they can be, and constantly being and example and motivating is one way I believed I have improved to the…

Since middle school, I have been involved in numerous local beach and river cleanup events. In Nature Academy I was able to design my own community service project. During 7th grade, I banded together with a few fellow classmates and we decided to clean up the streets of Felton one staple at a time. The state of the poles there were horrible; covered in the metal pieces from prior flyers posted there. After several weeks and hours, we had defeated the evil staples. In 8th grade, I had done some more community service on a smaller scale. By helping out in the community garden at school, I had helped the crops grow, that were then disbursed to families in need of fresh…

I am a leader. I have all the qualities that make a great leader, but I was not born this way.Experiences and how someone reacts to those experiences are what truly make a leader. One of the most influential experiences I have gone through is called the Lebanon High School Marching Band. I am certain that I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for marching band. Before coming to high school I already had leadership qualities, but band helped bring all those great qualities together and helped me get past my two major flaws: my lack of self-confidence and the fact that I was probably one of the shyest people you would EVER meet. When I joined marching band, I spent most of my waking hours sweating and suffering alongside wonderful people that I longed to…

Since eighth grade I have volunteered regularly at Prodisee Pantry, a local food bank that gives out boxes of food every week. Prodisee was the first place I volunteered on my venture. Then I started to serve at my old middle school on Tuesdays, usually in the science department where I could offer the most assistance. From there I began leading a small group for middle schoolers at one of my churches on Wednesday nights. However, that was the extent of my service for the first two months of the year, but soon I did something completely new to remind me of the purpose of the 365…

I volunteered at Texas Humane Heroes, a local animal welfare organization that gives a homeless dog or cat a chance of finding home. It is a nonprofit organization that benefits from the involvement of volunteers. This was a very unique experience because I got to work with a lot of different volunteers and staff members. There were different volunteering opportunities from foster volunteering to helping out around the place. I helped around the place with other volunteers. We cleaned the dog and cat cages and washed their bowls. It wasn’t fun to pick up their waste, but we got to play with the puppies and the kittens. We also had to greet customers and inform them about the cats and the dogs that they had up there. In the afternoon, we had to walk the dogs. So many volunteers and I, took the dogs out.…

Service is the reason I would be a good candidate for the National Junior Honor Society because I have volunteered in the past and would like to volunteer more in the future. I like volunteering because I enjoy helping people. I would like to join the National Junior Honor Society because I like school, I like to study and I would like to do more volunteer work. One of the things I did was volunteer in the World Refugee Day. I drew designs on people’s hands with henna, I also distributed water to the people who were there to watch, and I gave raffle tickets to the people who were participating in the program.…

I am a great leader and throughout my high school career I have taken every opportunity I could to display this. For three out of my four years I have participated as a Muskoka Woods Leader. This required me to spend a week at a summer camp at which I would lead a group of grade 7s through a series of fun activities. Being a leader at this camp wasn't always fun and games though. I had encountered many situations with the grade 7s in which I would have to improvise and apply my knowledge of leadership to sort out. For example, during one of our games we would play, there was a little boy who was sitting off on the side not participating. I went over to talk to the boy to find out what was wrong. When I found out that he didn't understand how to play the game I knew exactly how to fix it. I brought him over to a corner and me and him played our own little one on one version of the game. I taught him how to play and I played with him until he was finally ready to join the other grade 7s. As well as being a Muskoka Leader, in my grade 11 year, I was a Link Leader for my high school. This was different from being a Muskoka Leader because this time I was working with grade 9 students who were entering high school. Throughout the year I worked with the grade 9s giving them secret tips and tricks about how they could survive their freshman year of high…

In the past, I have demonstrated leadership as both the assistant manager of a frozen yogurt shop and as a leader in the University Honors Program as a member of the Honors Student Council. I have also exhibited leadership throughout my academic and sports career by acting as a role model for my peers and leading by example. As a leader, I know that I do not need to be the most vocal, and instead understand that I should set the standard for my peers to follow. My past leadership…
