A L TEX is not just a program but a language and a methodology of describing documents A and gets used via a L TEX system. With that not only scientific papers can be prepared, but also excellent letters, presentation and much more. For all that have not worked with free software so far it may be strange in the beginning to have to integrate different components to a system on their own, and some will not easily have the heart to do so. For this I present my own environment that I use to generate from A L TEX Postscript
