Laura Trice Remember To Say Thank You

Praise to Peace A counselor and a life coach, Laura Trice in her TED Talk, “Remember to Say Thank You,” describes the importance of not just receiving praise, but asking for it yourself, wishing her audience to use her knowledge to make their own relationships increasingly healthier, and, in turn, take the “first step toward world peace.” Her straightforward and serene tone allows her to convey the importance of asking for praise to all the people who are struggling in maintaining a healthy relationship through the use of rhetorical questions, anecdotes, metaphors, and repetition in order to combat rising levels discontent in the family and home that she witnesses daily as a marriage counselor and life coach.
Trice takes the audience through her thought process through the use of multiple anecdotes in her talk in order to convey how she came about her answer on why
“I would want to say thank you to someone, I would want to praise them, I would want to take in their praise of me and I'd just stop it” (Trice). In this case, Trice places a burden on her words to convey the turmoil she was feeling to the audience. When she finally confesses what the answer to her main question was, she puts meaning behind her words using anaphora. She admits, “I'm telling you where I'm insecure. I'm telling you where I need your help.” Even in her ending statement, she uses anaphora to connect with her audience, telling them to “Go home to your wife -- go ask her, what does she need? Go home to your husband -- what does he need?
