I’ve read this book numerous times. I always get hooked and can’t stop reading. The author of the book is Laurie Halse Anderson. In this book she writes from the aspect of a teenage boy. I found this surprising because she is so accurate on how men thought and how they’re portrayed in the book. This book really is one of the major things to inspire me because it showed me that any person can write about anything they want. The story is that of a high school age boy he has his ups and his downs. This Quote from the book accurately depicts something I’d have thought: “I picked up one of the books and flipped through it. Don't get me wrong, I like reading. But some books should come with warning labels: Caution: contains characters and plots guaranteed to induce sleepiness. Do not attempt to operate heavy machinery after ingesting more than one chapter. Has been known to cause blindness, seizures and a terminal loathing of literature. Should only be taken under the supervision of a highly trained English teacher. Preferably one who grades on the curve.” (Anderson)
The main character goes through so much and ends up overcoming things others said put on him. I think I connected with this book on a personal level and this pushed me to do things I wouldn’t originally planned
