We have read many love stories and fairytales which all had a ‘happily ever after’ ending. It was never easy for the lovers to get together because there was always something that would come in between them. Even then, they would not give up and would fight until the very end to be with their true love. Keeping that in mind, the short film ‘Lava’ is similar, as it talks about how two Volcanoes ‘Uku’ and ‘Lele’ are lovers and wait for a very long to be with each other. The film was inspired by a man, James Ford Murphy who went for a honeymoon to Hawaii with his wife. He came up with the idea of this short film when his sister got married at the age of 43. The song of the volcanoes has a catchy rhythm as it sounds like a lullaby that gets you humming at the very end. Its use of words like ‘hope’ and ‘dream’ tells us that there is no limit for even a volcano to dream and find the love of his/her life. It is said that the volcano ‘Uku’ sings and even when his lava turns into stone, he keeps singing and does not give up. As portrayed in the song, Uku’s song filled up Lele’s heart with hope, but Uku did not know there was someone waiting for him under the sea. With high hopes, he waited even though he was almost extinct and finally realized he had someone for him. When she appeared with a big explosion, he could not be seen because he had turned to stone. Even then, he tried to sing but he was unable to because all of his lava was gone by singing and waiting for all those years. This is how important love was to him as did not give up hope even at the brink of extinction and tried his best to sing but failed. ‘Lele’ knew that ‘Uku’ was waiting for her and she remembers the song and started to sing. This gives us an idea of how love fills our hearts and in this case the music
