Law Case Study: Home Visit At Home
This case was transferred to this worker on 3/7/16. The SW conducted a home visit in order to introduce self to the family was the new worker from the agency assigned to work with the family. Present at the home were Ms. Espinal, Janely and Jonathan. Janely was sitting in the bed using the tablet and Jonathan was playing video game. Janely and Jonathan appear to be safe no visible marks and/or bruises were observed. They were wearing clean and appropriate clothing for the weather.
Ms. Espinal explained to the SW that she does not understand why her case still open if the children are attending school and when they do not go she send a note to the school. She stated that she would like to know when the case would be closed. The SW explained to Ms. Espinal that the children still missing school and if there is no improving in their attendance the case cannot be closed. Ms. Espinal stated that she leave the kids up and getting ready to school before leaving the house to go to work. She stated that she is sending the children to school and on her way to work she calls them to ensure that they leave the house.

Espinal the reason as of why Janely missed school last year. She stated that she had a problem with a friend of her friend. The girl did not went to the same school at her, but she would threat her on Facebook and in the phone. The girl would say thing like I know where you live, I know where your brother go to school. Ms. Espinal stated that she allowed Janely to stay home. She stated that the school was aware of the problem. She went to the school district to request a transfer but Janely decided to continue attending the same school so she transfer her son to Janely’s school in order for them to travel together. Now they leave the house and the school together and the girl stop threating
